We are looking for a person or people to coordinate our elementary robotics program. Details are below. No robotics experience is necessary! E-mail oconnord@alconaschools.net if you are interested. Hello! I am happy to announce that VexIQ Robotics will be happening this year! Take a look at this year's new challenge... VEX IQ Challenge Squared Away. A few housekeeping items: Please complete the attached form to verify team members, team mentor/coach, and school principal. When choosing a mentor... The mentor DOES NOT NEED a background or experience in robotics. What has worked well in the past are individuals who are passionate about working with students throughout the building and design process and are willing to monitor the students in such a way that will increase cooperation and to prevent loss or damage to the equipment. Not sure how to choose which of your awesome current 4th and 5th grade students? Touch base with their 3rd and 4th grade teachers from last year for recommendations regarding who might be interested in applying STEM applications in a more hands-on and cooperative way. Please add to your calendars the following dates: Scrimmage 1 - October 24 (Thursday) Registration begins at 5:30 pm Scrimmage begins promptly at 6:00 pm Ends approximately 7:30 pm Scrimmage 2 - October 29 (Tuesday) Registration begins at 5:30 pm Scrimmage begins promptly at 6:00 pm Ends approximately 7:30 pm Tournament - November 9 (Saturday) Registration begins at 8:30 am Scrimmage begins promptly at 9:00 am Ends after awards approximately around 1:30 pm Helpful Resources: REC Foundation - https://www.roboticseducation.org/vex-iq-challenge/
