Our freshmen students are back in action! They learned about STEM related jobs at Hammond Bay earlier this month and now are learning about the world of environmental protection and the science behind lamprey mitigation. Our environmental stewards learned about physical and chemical prevention methods and ways to protect our beautiful Great Lakes from non-native invaders. These young scientists did amazing and had tons of fun while learning.

A special thank you to @smile programs the mobile dentist for visiting our middle/high school! They saw 52 students total and were able to provide exams, cleanings, x-rays, and simple restorative care. 32 students received their complete dental care, 45 received a fluoride varnish treatment, 391 teeth received a sealant, and there were 39 fillings completed. A special thank you to the Lincoln Lions Club for helping fund the dentist visit for students that were uninsured so there was no fee. February Food Corps Update: Both 4th grade classes made homemade butter in a mason jar! Through this activity they were able to construct flavor profiles for their butter; such as Garlic Parmesan, Garden Herb, Cinnamon Sugar, or Salt and Pepper. The students enjoyed the homemade butter on Fresh French bread! Additionally, the Food Corps Lesson during February was about producers and decomposers. Students were able to identify the producers, consumers, and decomposers in a Supreme Pizza Recipe. Students made homemade pizza bagels to conclude the lesson! #alconaschools #foodcorps
