Interested in a career in Early Childhood Education? According to the MSU Community Evaluation Program, our community is considered a childcare desert. Through Alcona Community Schools’ Early College Program, students can start their path toward becoming a preschool teacher, teaching assistant, social worker, daycare provider, or even a childcare center director, all while still in high school! Thanks to our partnership with Bay Mills Community College, students can earn up to an associate degree at little to no cost, with certificate and degree programs available fully online. Early College applications open in 10th grade at: bit.ly/ACS-EC-App. Questions? Contact Ms. Cordes at cordesh@alconaschools.net or 989-736-8534. Don’t miss this opportunity to jumpstart your career! #alconaschools #earlycollege #earlychildhoodeducation

This summer Close Up students will be taking a trip to Washington, D.C. for a hands-on learning experience to explore government by visiting monuments, museums, and Capitol Hill, taking part in discussions and debates, and more. To help fund their trip they are doing a can and bottle drive. If you have cans/bottles to donate please drop them off in the fenced area outside CLAW Academy; which is located at the entrance to our Transportation Department. Thank you! #alconaschools #closeup

High School Broadway Trip Update – Mr. Erickson:
As of now, the Broadway trip is still scheduled for Thursday, March 12, even if school is delayed or canceled. However, in the event of a delay or cancellation, school buses will not be available to transport students, so students will need to arrange their own transportation to arrive at school by 8am. If the trip itself is delayed or canceled, Mr. Erickson will notify all students by email as soon as possible. Thank you!
