🎓ACS Early College Campaign: Today’s spotlight for our Early College campaign is our current 5th year students! One of the common misconceptions about EC is that students don’t get to experience the full senior experience. This is not true! EC students walk alongside their class at graduation and participate in all things senior related during 12th grade. The only difference an EC student experiences is they complete their FAFSA, apply for scholarships, are recognized for their academic achievements, and receive their diploma during their 5th year. EC students are further recognized during their 5th year at graduation, where they are awarded their Michigan Early/Middle College Association (MEMCA) Certificate for completing our EC Program, obtaining 15 or more college credits, completing the required number of community service/career exploration hours, and more! Congratulations to our current 5th year EC students - and our first cohort of EC students! #TigerPride #EarlyCollege

🎓ACS Early College Campaign: Today's spotlight for our Early College campaign is the Alpena Community College library! Mrs. Cordes made a visit to the ACC library to learn more about resources for our EC students, such as reference materials, study space, computers, and more. While visiting the library Mrs. Cordes ran "head on" into Einstein! Did you know Einstein once said "A person that never made a mistake never tried anything knew"? One of the great benefits of the EC program is that students can try something new and more than 10 college classes! This allows students to explore more and learn from their mistakes while in high school. One of the best things a student can do is complete a college class and realize that a program of study is not their passion. What better way to do this than through EC so it's at no cost to the student or their family? Join us February 24 to learn more about our Early College Program! #TigerPride #EarlyCollege

🎓ACS Early College Campaign: Today we will be spotlighting some of our current EC students! Every Friday our junior and senior EC students have a seminar course with our EC Coordinator. The purpose of the seminar is to help ensure EC students have the tools, resources, and knowledge needed to be successful throughout their college experience. One key factor in college success is understanding the terminology. Last week junior and senior EC students competed in College Terminology Jeopardy. Juniors won the “payday” by wagering everything on a Double Jeopardy. Join us February 24 to learn more about our Early College Program! #TigerPride #EarlyCollege

Due to projected morning wind chill temperatures on February 4th, Alcona Schools will operate on a 90-minute delay tomorrow. School will start at 9:35 am at the middle/high, and 9:45 am at the elementary. This could be a duplicate message due software challenges.
