Pellston FTC Robotics Competition - Saturday Nov 23rd. Great Job Alcona!





Twenty seven Alcona students traveled to Pellston bright and early today for a FTC Robotics qualification competition. The ten teams of students competed and faired really well. All teams should be proud of their effort.





Great job to all ten teams that competed today in Pellston!


Team 15602 earned the judges award at the Pellston Qualifier! Team members are Hannah Renchenski and Lily Kozlow.


Alcona had a Middle School Robotics champion this afternoon at the Pellston Qualifier! Team 13818 Gotta Go Fast! Baylee Goddard, Ricky Schott, Garrett Somers, Jacob June! State Qualifiers!


3rd graders had a special presentation today from foreign exchange students Slava, Nurzhamal and Muslim. Our international students educated 3rd graders on their culture, local traditions, language, music, food, and more!

The 6th graders will be traveling to Lincoln Haven Nursing Home and Rehab on Monday, November 25th from 9:30-10:30. Students will be visiting and interacting with the residents at the nursing home. The goal of the trip is to have the 6th graders give back to their community. We will be visiting various community sites as the year progresses.

Members of VFW Post 8135, Commander Jim Burger, Quartermaster Dan Richardson, and Chaplain Roy Williams, visited the high school to announce this year's winners of the 2019-20 Voice of Democracy Essay Contest. Congratulations to our winners: 1st place - Grace Atkinson; 2nd place - Cecelia Spears; and 3rd place - Adrian Corcoran. The theme was "What Makes America Great."

The lake sturgeon has arrived! Elementary student in the 3rd grade are participating in a place based education project of raising and releasing a threatened lake sturgeon. Partners from Sturgeon for Tomorrow delivered our sturgeon today.

Attention SENIOR parents: Senior portraits for the yearbook will be due February 7, 2020. Digital copies can be submitted by email anytime before that date to yearbook@alconaschools.net. Please make sure that dress code guidelines are followed in the submissions.

Fundraiser delivery for all music and marketing students is Tuesday, November 19th. Please make arrangements to take home all of your items that day. Please email or call me if you have questions!

7th grade takes home another victory against the Whittemore-Prescott 53-13.
