Hello Alcona Elementary families! We are sad to share, but we need to cancel Math Night scheduled for this Tuesday (10/29/24). Please be on the lookout for a future Math night event.
Alcona Cross Country competed at the Regionals today in East Jordan. Cole Upper set a season record with an impressive time of 17:22.16, while Darren Boyat achieved a personal best of 18:00.3. Cole finished 14th, and Darren placed 18th out of 74 runners. Both boys put forth an incredible effort, making this a truly impressive and proud moment for us all. Excitingly, Cole will advance to the state competition on Saturday, November 2, at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI.

Did you know charcuterie boards originated in France? Last week our French students did some taste testing and tried a charcuterie tray in Ms. Fritz-Wilson's class.
Alcona Football will be placing a playoff gear order on Sunday October 27th. The image below includes the front design and a back printed roster if selected. The team will be getting tshirts, but we are opening up the orders to family and friends if anyone would like some gear. An order form will go home with varsity players. Others can request a form to print and return from somersr@alconaschools.net, or you can pick one up in the high school office. Please note payments and forms are due by Sunday Oct 27th and we need cash or check only.

Alcona Cross Country participated in the Northern Michigan Meet of Champions on Saturday morning, and the weather was perfect for running. Cole Upper finished with a time of 18:12, placing 61st out of 239 runners, while Darren Boyat achieved a season-best time of 18:47, finishing 86th.
This week, the team will focus on preparing for Regionals, which will take place in East Jordan on Saturday, October 26th.

We are beyond grateful to the Barton City Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary for their incredibly generous donation of over $500 of school supplies to our middle and high school! 🎒✏️📚 Their motto, "People Helping People," truly shines through this amazing act of kindness.
With their support, we've received essential items like backpacks, notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, kleenex, socks, and feminine hygiene products. These supplies will go a long way in helping our students have a successful and confident school year! 👏💙
