Note From the Superintendent
As many of you heard, today we informed parents we moved the elementary holiday program from the evening to the school day. The primary reason is concerns about the safety of students and guaranteed participation for all students. It’s no easy task coordinating 300 students and 700(plus) adults to pick up their children. We attempted to work through the security concerns, but couldn’t didn’t feel comfortable enough to move forward this year. The delay in communication falls on me as we were attempting refine our procedures for the night, but never found a system in a foreign building to staff/students to make it work. I apologize for the confusion and late reschedule. Feel free to direct your frustration to my office at 989-736-6212 or oconnord@alconaschools.net. The hope is with a year to plan we can revisit the evening program, but I can’t make any promises at this point.
We will stream the event on our district YouTube page live for people unable to attend and will share a link in the coming days.
Please accept my apologizes for the late change.
Mr. Daniel O’Connor
