🎓ACS Early College Spotlight: Today’s highlight features one of our current 5th year Early College students, Emily Samp. Emily is enrolled in the Industrial Technology Program at ACC. She enjoys taking classes in welding, CNC machining, and manufacturing. Something unique about Emily is that she was a full-time college student during her senior year (as well as a high school student). Typically Early College students are not enrolled full-time in college until their 5th year. Emily was proactive in planning ahead and taking college courses early; which will allow her to complete her associates degree in May 2025 through our Early College Program. In December 2022 the Governor signed House Bills 6039 and 6040, which allow students in the 5th year of an Early College program to participate in college athletics. This year we have our first Early College students that are collegiate athletes: Carter Upper and Miah Schopfer! Carter ran for the cross country team and Miah competed on the softball team. Thank you to all who participated in our Thanksgiving family literacy celebration. Families enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, followed by free books to take home, door prizes, a read aloud and a fun fall craft. Special thanks to AAACU for their volunteers, MSU Extension for the free books and activity, our awesome kitchen staff for the meal, and the many elementary staff members who helped throughout the evening.
